Zig-Zig Stripes Baby Quilt

June 2, 2011

This one has been under construction for most of the last year. It was one of those projects that started out really well and then just fell to the wayside as other things came up. I buckled down and finished it last night, and it took…25 minutes. Seriously. I could have done it ages ago. That is procraftination for you.

It turned out to be the perfect size for a play-mat…or a baby-lying-in-the-shade-mat…or a single-person-picnic-mat. I really like the the zig-zags made with triangles, based on this awesome tutorial from A Quilt Is Nice.

This was my first project with free-motion quilting. I finally got curious enough about it to buy an embroidery foot and it has totally paid off. It was much easier than I expected and once you get a feel for it, it is pretty consistent and professional looking. Maybe that will be a tutorial for another day.
