Heartline Haiti

Heartline Haiti is a pretty incredible organization. I’ve been following their staff’s blogs (here, here, and here) for a year and a half now, and never get tired of their stories of Haiti, of the women they serve, of the babies that are born in their care, and the incredible photos they share with blog followers.

Heartline operates a home, called Harbor House, for teenage girls who are pregnant or have recently given birth. You can read more about it here, but I can give you the summary- without Harbor House, none of these moms would have the resources or encouragement to support themselves or their infants. They come from desperate situations, especially those living in tent camps where disease and death are so common. At Harbor House, they’re taught life skills, take classes so that they can earn a high school degree, given what they need to take care of their children, and most importantly, are loved as part of a community where Christ is center. Heartline is doing amazing work and making lives better in Haiti, and I really admire what they do.

Heartline has an opportunity to receive a $50,000 grant from an organization called Giving of Life. They’re already qualified, now they just need to get votes. Right now, they’re sitting at second place (in competition with some other great organizations, many of which have a much bigger circle of contacts than Heartline) and really need votes in order to get ahead. Voting will continue till November.

Please, please go and vote. This is a great opportunity for an excellent organization to get enough money to open a brand new maternity center. You can vote once without registering (takes about 9.76 seconds) or four times with registration (takes approximately 28.45 seconds), and you’ll have made an impact in Haiti (okay, indirectly) without leaving your seat.
