Project 8: Tile Coasters

December 18, 2011

My coasters:

These were super easy- I made them with the high school girls at GEMS and they each made 4 in about 30 minutes. Here’s the breakdown:

1. Buy tiles (4″x4″) at Home Depot or somewhere similar. Mine were $0.28 each. They come individually or in a box of 50.

2. Cut paper to fit just inside the edges (about 1/4″ smaller than the tile) and podge it on, underneath and over.

3. Cut a square of felt (about 1/4″ smaller than the tile) and use craft glue to stick it on the back.

4. Once the podge is dry, spray the whole top surface with clear non-tacky acrylic spray (in the spray paint section).

Done! Makes a lovely hostess gift or teacher gift, or a special present for mom or dad or grandparents.
